Punjab
to introduce e-filling of returns from Jan '08
Punjab
Government on Tuesday said that it would introduce the
system of e-filing of returns in the state from January
1, 2008, aimed at facilitating trade and commerce.
An assurance to this effect was given by Punjab Chief
Minister Parkash Singh Badal to a deputation of
industrialists from Ludhiana here today.
Badal
also directed the Financial Commissioner Taxation S.S Brar
to extend the last date of the filling of C-forms from
November 30, 2007 to March 31, 2008 and expedite the
process of VAT refunding.
Brar stated in the meeting that refunds of VAT to the tune
of Rs.100 crores had been made by the department so far to
be eligible beneficiaries since the formation of SAD-BJP
government.
Responding to the other demands raised by the
industrialists, Badal said that the Punjab State
Electricity Board had already issued a notification on
load surcharge for un-authorized connected load,
stipulating that there was no reason while large supply
consumers should not be at liberty to install additional
load so long as they remain within sanctioned contract
demand.
He said the large supply consumers would be levied demand
surcharge at the rate of Rs 750 per KVA for each default
for demand exceeding sanctioned contract demand.
