A.K.
Mehra invited all the unregistered assesses to get
registered with the department for their respective
categories of services rendered by them. He also emphasised
that all the service providers should exhibit a note in
their offices showing “Service Tax 12.36% Extra”.
He
also advised the assesses to deposit their Service Tax after
collecting the same from their clients, otherwise they would
have to bear the burden of tax on their own later on. During
the mela, the facility of de-registration will also be
provided to those who do not need their registration owing
to their falling under enhanced exemption limits. He also
stressed that the assesses could opt for Service Tax Dispute
Resolution Scheme, 2008.
