Punjab cabinet gives approval to amend VAT on petrol prices

The Council of Ministers today gave approval to amend Section 2 of Punjab Value Added Tax (VAT)-Adjustment of reduction in the price of petrol and diesel announced by the Union Government.

The Cabinet also gave its nod to transfer approximately 37.53 acres surplus land of the Mental Hospital at Amrtisar to Punjab Industrial Development Board (PIDB) under OUVGL scheme for commercial exploitation and to repay the loan liability of the Punjab Health Systems Corporation.



 

The Council of Ministers also favoured relaxation in experience as per provision contained in the Punjab Police Rules of the Punjab Civil Services (General and Common Conditions of service) Rules from six years to five and half years for the promotion of Inspectors of police to the rank of DSPs.

The Ministers also approved the reconstitution of Cabinet Sub Committee comprising Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal as its Chairman. The other members on the committee would be Manoranjan Kalia, Ranjit Singh Brahampura, Capt Kanwaljit Singh and Dr Upinderjit Kaur, all senior ministers.

This Cabinet sub-committee will discuss in detail the issue of amendment in relevant rules for making the registration of marriages compulsory.
