Commodities Exchange of India Ltd (FCEI) has asked the
Kerala government to remove the four per cent purchase
tax on Copra used by oil mills.
In a resolution passed at Sunday's Extraordinary General
Meeting, the FCEI members said the tax on copra
nullifies the real objective of the government to
mitigate the sufferings of the state's coconut
community.
The
members also passed a special resolution complimenting
the state finance minister for withdrawing VAT on
coconut oil, FCEI Chairman P V Alexander said in a
statement here.
