Paul
Birdsall now lives in Alberta and was not present in court
Tuesday for sentencing.
Court
heard Birdsall was marketing a number of
"work-at-home" businesses when, in 2001, he
failed to remit $54,000 in GST payments to the federal
government.
An
investigation by the Canada Revenue Agency revealed
Birdsall declared only minimal income from a grocery
coupon processing business known as Supermarket King, but
continued to live in an upscale Winnipeg home.
Investigators
discovered Birdsall failed to report substantial GST
receipts on income earned through several other
work-at-home businesses, including Horizon Career
Consulting, DataMax Solutions and International
Homeworkers Alliance.
