- A municipal GST for infrastructure?
If
quebecers are sick of taxes, the Coalition for
Infrastructure Renewal of Quebec says they're even
sicker of potholes, threadbare bridges and leaky
waterpipes.
Coalition
president and mayor of Laval Gilles Vaillancourt says a
poll commissioned by his coalition shows 75 percent of
respondents would pass up the recently-announced
one-point rollback in the GST to put the money in
infrastructure instead. He says they'd even be
agreeable to a municipal GST, but only if they could
certain that the money would go only to infrastructure.
