As per the
announcement of Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee
in his budget speech, GST is proposed to come into
effect from April 1, 2010.
"I have urged the Centre to delay implementation of GST
as no consensus has been arrived yet at the Empowered
Committee (EC) on basic structure of this tax regime,"
Patel told reporters.
"We support such kind of tax reforms, but unless there
is clarity on the tax structure and what impact it would
have on the stakeholders, its difficult to pass the
bill," he said.
