Orissa - Defer GST: Government     

The State Government has demanded postponement of the introduction of goods and services tax (GST) till next year. It is scheduled to be implemented from April.

The issue was taken up at the two-day meeting of the empowered committee of the finance ministers held in New Delhi last week. The proposed structure and roadmap of GST was also discussed at the meeting. Orissa favoured continuance of the Central sales tax at 2 per cent in the initial stage of introduction of GST.
