Haryana - Surjewala reviews progress of SEZs in
Haryana
To resolve bottlenecks in early setting up of Special
Economic Zones (SEZ) in the state, Haryana Industries
Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala today reviewed their
progress at a meeting here with developers. Developers
of SEZs raised a number of issues concerning
environmental clearance, delegation of powers under
labour laws, exemption of VAT etc. They also
particularly raised the apprehension about mid-term
changes in the policy by Government of India. Surjewala
said the government will look into their problems in
right earnest, take up the issues with other concerned
departments. The Minister said Haryana Chief Minister
Bhupinder Singh Hooda was keen to see that SEZs come up
and start functioning. This will not only lead to
industrialization of the state but also increase
employment opportunities, he said. Out of 45 SEZs in the
state, only four were operational. Some SEZs had already
sent e-mails about their cases specifying their
problems.
