Sport goods manufacturers here have welcomed the Punjab
government's announcement regarding abolition of Value
Added Tax (VAT) on sports goods. "Announcement of
abolition of Value Added Tax (VAT) on the sports goods
is a welcome step and if it is implemented then at least
ten thousand people will get employment and business
will get a boost," Vijay Dheer of Khel Udyog Sangh said.
"After imposition of VAT sports goods industry in
Jalandhar was suffering and most business had shifted to
Meerut in UP," he said.
