Orissa: State cabinet decides to waive 4 per cent VAT on sugar and textiles

The State Cabinet on Friday met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and took major decisions on issues relating to VAT , Odisha civil service matters and welfare for nationally reputed sports persons. After the meeting, the Chief Secretary Bijaya Kumar Patnaik along with Secretary Finance J.K.Mohapatra , Secretary Revenue & Disaster management R.K.Sharma and Special Secretary G.A.
 



 

U.N.Behera briefed the decisions of cabinet to media persons. The major decisions are:

• Pension rules amended – period of NDC requirement reduced to one year

• VAT waived out from the commodities sold in canteen of central para- military forces.

• Family pension rules amended: the unmarried , widowed and divorced daughters will get pension.

• Vat will not be applicable on sugar and textile fabrics for the time being

• VAT on LPG & PDS kerosene oil waived out.

• More than 25% equity of govt in co-operative societies converted to grant.

• Revenue service recruitment rules approved.

• 5 renowed sports-men of the state are provided premium free land in Bhubaneswar.

• Sri chinmaya basu appointed as chairman O.P.S.C.

• F.R.BM. Act amended as per recommendations of 13th finance commission.

• Odisha civil service fixation of upper age limit rules amended- no Age relaxation for non-holding af recruitment exam. In any year.

• Odisha civil service combined recruitment rules amended.
