Last date of filling VAT returns extended in Punjab
The Punjab Government today extended the date for filing
of VAT returns till August 16. This was decided after
receiving applications from the associations of traders,
industrialists and even tax professionals. Disclosing
this here today, state local bodies and industries
minister Tikshan Sud said it has been decided to extend
the date of filling of quarterly returns ended on June
30 to August 16. He, however, said the due tax has to be
deposited as per the earlier schedule. He said that out
of the columns relating to 'Trade and Commodity'
introduced in new VAT forms, the industry may fill only
one column. Industry had rued that it was cumbersome to
fill new VAT forms. He said it has been added only to
facilitate taxpayers, lawyers and Charted Accountants to
trace the relevant commodities.
