Entry tax will now be called advanced VAT stated the
excise and taxation department.
The industries are confused over the new name and the
Knitwear Club has written to the CM to remove this tax
immediately.
Knitwear Club President Vinod Thaper said, “Entry tax in
the range of 4-5% has been imposed on many goods in
Punjab, but we had taken stay from High Court regarding
the entry tax on yarn. So it was not applicable to us.
But once the entry tax has been mentioned as advanced
VAT , it will be applicable on yarn again.”
