Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has discussed a gamut
of issues on Value Added Tax (VAT) and ways of
simplifying the process to make it hassle free. Gogoi,
who attended a two-day Value Added Tax (VAT) meeting at
Madrid in Spain which concluded yesterday, stressed the
need to make it easier for the people, official sources
said here today. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kr
Modi, who is the Chairman of the Empowered Committee on
VAT, Indian Ambassador to Spain Sunil Kumar Lal, Finance
Ministers of different states, Secretary General Juan
Cano Garcia and senior officials of Ministry of Economic
and Finance Department, Madrid, Spain were present in
the meeting. Chief Minister Gogoi later left for
Brussels.
