The state Cabinet on Tuesday approved an ordinance to
simplify procedures to levy Value Added Tax (VAT).
As per the ordinance, commission agents in market yards
who buy from farmers will be exempted from VAT if they
sell the produce to a registered VAT dealer. This will
help farmers avoid paying tax to agents.
The
ordinance fixes a four per cent composite slab rate on
60 per cent turnover for printers and cab operators
besides software companies. An exclusive bank for women
self-help groups was approved.
In another significant move, the Cabinet decided to take
action against people who gave wrong declarations of
ceiling lands. The government will add a section to AP.
Land Reforms Act 1973 empowering it to reopen such
cases.
