Goa on zero revenue deficit spree

Goa has become first state in the country to have attained the zero revenue deficit status, with the tiny state touching Rs 141 crore plus revenue figure for the last financial year.

“The revenue deficit was Rs 21 crore for 2005-06,” state finance minister Dayanand Narvekar said.

He said buoyancy in the revenue stemmed from increase in sales tax, VAT, stamps and registrations, taxes on vehicles.
